Loving

New Orleans. We have begun the US portion of our travels and we went to the south first. It was the quickest way to get out of that winter weather. NOLA is one of my favorite cities in the country and we have five days here. Walking around the gorgeous places in the garden district, listening to music pour out of all the bars in the French Quarter and eating all kinds of amazing food – it’s been a wonderful week.

Embracing

The road trip life. We are planning to spend the next few months traveling in our small SUV and doing a mix of camping, AirBnBs, house/pet sitting and motels. I was worried about keeping the car organized, but it has not been an issue so far at all. Everything has a spot and it’s really easy to pack and unpack the car.

Tasting

Southern food. While we are cooking as much as possible to help save money, we have enjoyed a couple of meals out to get some good southern food. I have a few things left to find before we head to Texas at the end of the week. Beignets are at the top. I would also love to find some Mac & Cheese and some hushpuppies.

Wearing

NO WINTER COAT. It is so nice being out of the cold after a month of freezing temps in the north. Plus, I’m finally able to wear these shoes since there is no snow on the ground. They are so comfortable.

Preparing

To make some life decisions in the coming months. We are officially on the hunt for the next place to call home. Part of this road trip is to visit some new places and figure out where we will be settling down later this spring. It’s crazy to think that we’ve already been traveling for 10 months. I’m not ready for this crazy journey to be over, but money does not grow on trees and we will need jobs soon enough.
