The time of year for couch sitting and netflixing has arrived. This is a list of the things I've watched recently and would definitely recommend.

It is the time of year for me to enjoy quiet nights with little going on. The sun sets early. We enjoy the time to be quiet and home. There are candles, red wine, comfortable pajamas and the most television we watch all year long. Since I’m sure we aren’t alone, I wanted to give you some suggestions if you are figuring out what to watch.

For Laughs:

The Good Place – If you are not a Kristen Bell fan, I’m not sure how to deal with that. However, this show is good for everyone. It’s my favorite new sitcom of the last few years. Ted Danson is wonderful, but I’m the biggest fan of Jameela Jamil and D’Arcy Carden. It is a different concept about life after you die and philosophy in a funny and clever way. Plus, I seriously relate to Chidi in so many ways.

Schitt’s Creek – I have seen lots of people talk about this show and I even tried to watch the first episode a while back. After talking to my sister-in-law at Christmas, I decided to give it another try and I’m so glad I did. It’s Beverly Hillbillies in reverse and 10x funnier. Eugene and David Levy make a great pair and I’m happy that I’ve only flown through one season so far.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – I’m sure you’ve at least heard of this show by now. I personally think it’s the greatest part of our Amazon Prime account now. I love the characters in this show and the setting of mid century New York City. We haven’t quite finished season two yet because we are trying to just allow ourselves one episode at a time. If you haven’t watched yet, you should definitely check it out.

For Drama:

Escape at Dannemora – If you have any interest in true crime, this show is a MUST WATCH. It is a 7 part mini series that tells the true story of the escape from the prison in Upstate New York that happened in 2015. I remember watching this story on the news. This is some of the best acting I’ve seen this year and I cannot recommend this enough. If you’ve watched this, go listen to the podcasts about it on Real Crime Podcast. Ben Stiller is an amazing director and I had no idea.

Making a Murderer (Round 2) – We watched the second part of this. It didn’t bring many surprises, however it did teach me that voting for the judges on the back of my ballot can be extremely important. I learned the importance of their jobs and how much they can impact things with their decisions. I will admit that I had not done my research prior to the 2018 elections and I have this show to thank for the additional learning.

Ozark – This is another one I’ve been pretty impressed by this winter. It took us a while to get started on this one, but it’s great. It reminds me a little of Breaking Bad but with a different situation and different types of characters. Jason Bateman is pretty surprising in this role, but fantastic.

Game of Thrones – The final season begins in April of this year after a lot of waiting. We are using our winter evenings to rewatch the series from the beginning. You definitely pick up new information when you rewatch this show because there are so many characters and storylines. It’s one of the best shows in my opinion, so I’m excited to rewatch and then finally get some resolution to this story in the spring. If you missed my previous post about why I love the show, read it here.

Extra:

Tripped – This is a YouTube series about a couple that does tons of traveling. We stumbled upon their website and watched the trailer for their series. We had to keep watching.

They go to a ton of the places that we have on our bucket list and they are super likable. Go check them out.

James Corden Clips – But especially this one…

What are you watching while the days are short and the temps are cold? Do you watch more TV and movies this time of year? It just seems like the best time to snuggle up and enjoy some quiet time to recharge.
