Today is the winter solstice. It’s the shortest day of the year, but thankfully it comes while the neighborhood is all lit up. Great planning if you ask me. Here’s some random holiday thoughts I have currently.

I have mixed feelings about the holidays falling on Tuesdays this year. We do not have the eves off of work, so it feels weird to work one day and then have a day off. But it is also kind of awesome to have my weeks split up that way. I can’t imagine much is going to get done either Monday, but I’m hoping the office will be extremely quiet and I can get a bunch of stuff done.

We forgot to put outside lights up this year. Having a family vacation in the middle of the Christmas season is to blame for skipping some usual Christmas routines, but I’m good with it.

We have been burning this candle all month long and it is divine. It’s like being at a Christmas Tree farm, but while in my PJ’s curled up on the couch.

I’m having a great deal of sadness about New Year’s Eve this year. For the last 4 years, we have spent this evening in the mountains (both the Catskills and the Rockies) with two of our best friends. Because of the timing of the newest addition to their family and the holiday not being attached to a weekend, we decided to wait until February to go see them in Colorado and it feels all wrong. We are going to stick close to home to ring in 2019 and I’m sure we will still have a blast, but I will miss them lots.

I finished my Goodreads challenge this week for the year. 40 books and it was magical.

I love the last week of the year because reflecting on the year as a whole can be really fun. I love getting the Spotify email telling me what I listened to most, the best of lists that float around and just taking a few minutes to realize how much fun we’ve had this year. I’m going to do a favorite moments post again this year. I did part 1 and part 2 last year and it’s fun to reread them.

If you have any last minute shopping to do, you can still get items on 2 day shipping from Beautycounter with items for everyone in the family. You can snag this Intense Moisture Duo that smells like heaven and is so good for dry winter skin. Another option is these slippers that will still get to you by Christmas Eve. So comfy. I also noticed Old Navy has everything on sale again and you can get this for $10. Can you tell this is the time of year that I like to just be cozy at home?

After lots of great recommendations on new Christmas music, we settled on this Christmas record. It’s wonderful. Thank you for everyone that pointed us this direction. It’s a great addition and would also be a really great gift.

It’s Ugly Christmas Sweater day at work today and I’m ready to enjoy some festivities. I hope you enjoy your holiday. Dress festive, eat lots, love your family and friends and enjoy the moments. Before you know it, it will be next year.
