Growing up, I was an athlete.  I played sports year round.  Hockey was my main sport, but I played a few others.  I wasn’t artistic or theatrical, I just played sports.  That was my hobby and I spent hours each week devoting time to it.  I knew I didn’t want to play after high school, so I started coaching.  I love coaching and teaching little 3 and 4 year olds how to skate.  My program got cancelled a few years ago and every other coaching job took more time than my real job would allow.

So, now I’m stuck with a pair of skates that I never use and zero answers to the question “do you have any hobbies?”  As an adult, how do you answer that question?  The definition of hobby is “an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure.”  I decided to make a list of things I do in my leisure time.

Love to travel, wish I did it more.
Enjoy cocktails – probably should enjoy them less.
Am capable of knitting a scarf, but find it boring.
Go on ski trips once a year (twice if I’m lucky).
Watch Bravo and other trashy reality TV shows to feel better about myself unwind.
Read books on Saturday mornings with coffee.
Eat all the time.
Write something on this blog each night that usually doesn’t make sense.
Edit said blog in the morning during my coffee break.
Watch the news and get sad.
Have a Dance party each morning while getting ready.
Sleep.
Pretend to enjoy running, but get really excited when I actually hit one of my goals.

I guess those are my hobbies.  Pretty classy.  Maybe I should take up ballroom dancing or learning a new language.  Here is the awesome list I’m going to start exploring Hobby Hour – Hobby List.  In the meantime, pass me a Dos Equis, I’ve got some housewives to catch up on and a race to run tomorrow evening that I’m not really prepared for.  Plus, I love these hockey pictures of my husband – way cuter than mine.

Here is my update for 30 miles in 30 days because I need you to hold me accountable (I’m talking to you Nikki.)  9.08 miles so far.  More running next week and less walking.

If you have any hobby suggestions, let me know.
