After finishing up our brief stay in Akureyri, we were heading back to Reykjavik for one final night. Thanks to the sun rising at 4 AM in May, we were up and on the road early and decided to take a detour to drive the beautiful Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. We didn’t spend much time here, but we enjoyed a lunch and few road side photo stops.
Since we didn’t stay long, I don’t have too much tips, but I will share our photos from this detour.

There were not many towns on this trek, but the few that we drove through had the beautiful colored homes and buildings. Against the spring backdrop, they just pop.

To check out some pictures of this area with green on the ground, go check out this post on Unlocking Kiki when she visited Kirkjufell and the peninsula. This is a great day trip if you are staying in Reykjavik.

Now that the Summer craziness has died down, we are starting to plan out our 2016 travel and looking at these pictures make my brain start dreaming.

Where are you heading in 2016?
