Are we ready?

This question went through our minds time and time again over the last two months.  We had said yes to the challenge already, but were we really ready?  Did we know what we were getting into?  It was the question we were getting over and over again, but I don’t know that we really ever had the answer.
Sometimes you just have to take the plunge.  You have to listen to your heart and just know that things are going to be OK.  This has been a giant leap of faith, but the most comforting thing for me to hear is people saying, “what a great opportunity for you both” and knowing that we have the support and love of all the people close to us.

It has begun and we are 80% sure that we are ready, but we both acknowledge that there will be things that are incredibly hard.  The two of us together are capable of way more than we give ourselves credit for sometimes and I know we can get through the hard times.  Part of getting through them is being prepared and knowing that they are going to happen.
I can say with 100% confidence that if we had turned down this opportunity, we would have regretted it down the road.  Knowing that makes me as sure as I’m going to be with our decision.
So, here we go.  Sometimes you have to just take a risk.  I don’t do it very often, but here I am – 5 states away from home – and I’m excited.  I won’t ever skydive, bungee jump or swim with sharks, but we have packed up all of our belongings, our dogs and moved halfway across the country for work with very few friends and very little familiarity.
We are ready.  We are excited.  We are scared.  But I am so proud that we said yes.
