Last weekend, we were pretty wide open on Saturday so we planned brunch with Katie and then a trip to the Farmer’s Market.  While thinking of a place for brunch, I remembered hearing about a new restaurant in Lowertown St. Paul called the Buttered Tin.  Website here.

It was a match made in heaven.  There was a little bit of a wait right at noon, but worth every second.  We were seated inside.  The service was great.  People seemed enthusiastic and were excited to answer our questions about the menu.  There wasn’t a huge variety, but the biggest draw for me is the fact that they use all local produce and so their menu changes with the season.  Everyone at the table had decided, but then food was delivered to a table next to us and there was some last minute shuffling.

Katie went for A Damn Good Egg Sandwich and loved every minute of it (silly meat eaters.)  Justin went with the Hash Brown Omelet which had asparagus and Gruyere cheese in a hash brown omelet topped with an egg.

I decided on Huevos Rancheros and I was a happy happy girl.  All of our dishes come with a salad lightly dressed with a balsamic dressing and fresh fruit.  Here is what happened to my plate.  I’m pretty sure we all ate in silence.

Clean plate club.  It was the perfect amount of food.  I was full but not stuffed afterwards.  It was sooooo good.  We decided that since we had no bloody mary with our breakfast, we should probably have dessert. One of the owners was a winner on Cupcake Wars on the Food Network so clearly I needed to try out some of her amazing pastries.  I went for the Plain Jane with the butter cream frosting and Justin got the Ho-Ho cupcake which was lots of chocolaty awesomeness.

Not only did I knock another restaurant off for my 30 Before 30 list, but I have a new favorite breakfast place in St. Paul.  If you live in the area, try it out and let me know what you think.  If you don’t, come visit, but you better not go there without me.
